This year, the Griz Most Wanted program was proud to support Outdoor Connections Foundation, a local non-profit helping children in the Elk Valley connect with nature in meaningful, life-changing ways.

Who They Are
Outdoor Connections offers outdoor, child-led programs that empower young people to explore the natural world, build confidence, and develop lifelong skills through play, creativity, and hands-on experiences. Their programs are inclusive, accessible, and rooted in a deep appreciation for the incredible environment we’re lucky to call home.

From nature-based learning and wilderness skills to creativity, teamwork, and unstructured outdoor play, Outdoor Connections helps children discover who they are through immersive experiences – fostering curiosity, resilience, and a strong sense of belonging.

Why Are They “Wanted”?
This year, they were officially wanted for excessive mud distribution, extreme outdoor fun, and raising a generation of kids who aren’t afraid to get their boots dirty. 

Their “crimes” include:

Encouraging kids to splash in puddles

Promoting muddy snowsuits and messy adventures

And honestly… we think that’s something worth supporting.

Why They Matter
In a time when kids are spending less time outside, Outdoor Connections ensures nature remains a vital part of childhood. Their work strengthens our community by nurturing healthy relationships – with the land, with others, and with self.
